Diane Abbott: Senseless?

On the 4th Jan 2012, news surfaced of Diane's Twitter conversation with a reporter, citing: "White people love playing divide and rule. We should not play their game. #tacticasoldascolonialism."

Consequently, blood is being called for her job and public denunciation which I can understand and agree with, but is it necessary for people to be SO offended by this, when there is in fact some truth to these comments?

Let me just say: SHE SHOULD LOSE HER JOB, AS THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO A WHITE PERSON HAD THEY BEEN IN THE SAME POSITION. And if we are to truly call U.K a fair society, then this is fair I suppose.

HOWEVER, I do not agree with the all the hoohaah around it.

Let me explain.

So, this comes as a result to the convictions of the Stephen Lawrence murderers were convicted this week causing plenty of racial debates to be unearthed and society has been called to question.

Stephen Lawrence

Obviously, it is such a big issue because, excuse me for using this phrase again, the mirror has been held up and the nation doesn't like what it is seeing.

Tell me, how can we be told we have the "freedom" of speech yet when we DO speak out we get reprimanded for such efforts - regardless of race.

Jeremy Clarkson was made to apologise for the comments about the Union Strikers on the BBC - for expressing his view!

But when you are BLACK and want to express your view and do so in such a blunt and direct way that the message is crystal clear -  you become public enemy number one!

SO, what was said. She added: "White people love playing divide and rule. We should not play their game." She signed it with the Twitter hashtag "tacticasoldascolonialism." -  http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/politics/4042400/Fury-at-MP-Diane-Abbotts-white-people-Twitter-jibe.html

"White people love playing divide and rule." The meaning is clear, only an ignorant individual would have issues trying to interpret this.

Radio presenters are getting themselves hung up on the language saying, "It wasn't in the past tense, so what are the implications here?"

THE IMPLICATIONS ARE THAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT TODAY!

Let us look at the context. It's really simple to comprehend.

 - Diane Abbott, Black MP. Outspoken and seen her fair share of racism in London, which probably was her reasons for becoming an MP.

So she becomes an MP and enters into a predominantly WHITE environment and more to the point, BRITISH.

Diane, a result of British colonialism, is aware of the history of the British Empire and the means by which they BECAME an empire.

In the 19th century (and previously) they used divide and rule in order to control, and with control came power and with power was domination.

How is that relevant to today then? Well, lets have a look at the Stephen Lawrence case of 1993.

LAW ENFORCEMENT!!

After the atrocious incident, efforts to report this incident were looked upon as ridiculous with the police accusing the victim of being in a "gang" and the crass disbelief of the "N" word being used in the attack.

How is this divide and rule?

Divide us by using disbelief.
Rule us by feeding us with notions of gang culture.
Result: Gang culture commenced, and was and is the destruction of our race.

EDUCATION!!

"We should not play their game."

Black youth are not given the same opportunities, lets be real. We make the opportunities for ourselves. Some are pushed in the direction of sport and media - subjects deemed as inferior.

We are kept behind, and are only able to reach a certain level  in life. They are not told about politics or government. This is evident by the number of black peers in the Commons and Lords.

Law enforcers and educators do play a strong part in the division. And who feeds them with the materials to do their job? The government.

This divides us. The people who conceded to the forged path (Sports science and Media) and those who battled against the grain (English, Law, Languages and Medicine).

Asians are given more of an opportunity also, most taking routes in Medicine and Economics...Maths even.

We are not told to go against the grain in school and as a black youth that is YOUR own prerogative.

I am pleased to say, that I went against the grain, and that more and more youths of ethnic back grounds are.

I study languages. There are 6 black people and one Chinese person on the entire language course out of 200.

So division and game playing are evident, but those who are too ignorant to  understand this and actually look at the depth and background of the comments made...then, I actually have to question what the integrity of the British people.
