World's Great Men of Color: Volume 1 Asia and Africa, and Historical Figures Before Christ.

On my path to enlightenment and greater understanding, I am beginning to frequent coffee shops weekly to catch up on some extra reading after a period of a lack of literature.

At the moment (along with a whole host of books) I am reading World's Great Men of Color: Volume 1 Asia and Africa, and Historical Figures Before Christ.  and I am getting a revelation with every chapter that I read.

Only 5 chapters in, and that's including the Introduction and I am having withdrawal symptoms sitting here looking at the closed book as I type.

This book is beyond words. I have always been interested in black history and history in general, but this is just amazing.

Obviously it focuses on historical Negro figures who had been somewhat 'neglected' from popular history and in many ways some were 'bleached' in order to fit in with the norms and be accepted among society - which is an understandable yet devastating fact.

Written by J.A. Rogers (above) a Jamaican- American historian who in the early nineteenth century decided to delve into the somewhat dusty and neglected department of Black history and as expected he did hit many brick walls along the way, but none the less he managed to write two volumes of a concise history of prominent Black people who otherwise went along undiscovered, underrated or simply bleached to fit in with the norms.

The book was £9.99 from Amazon, and I advise all, whatever your race, to read up on this if you are willing to broaden your minds.

This book speaks to me, because it answers all the questions I have about myself let alone about the notable people of my race. What would I have been had my ancestors not been taken from the Ivory Coast and Ghana? Why were the Egyptian Empires forgotten?

Again, I advise people to read this as I reckon it could be life changing for many.
